3M™ Polyurethane Sealant 540 is a high-performance, single-component polyurethane adhesive sealant engineered for flexible, long-lasting sealing and bonding applications. This moisture-curing sealant forms permanently elastic bonds that withstand harsh environmental conditions, vibration, thermal expansion, and outdoor exposure, making it ideal for industrial, transportation, and construction applications.

Designed for versatility, 3M™ Polyurethane Sealant 540 bonds to a broad range of substrates including aluminum, steel, coated metals, plastics, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), sheet molding compound (SMC), and wood. Its gap-filling capability and low modulus formulation allow it to absorb movement and stress without cracking, helping maintain reliable seals over time.

The sealant provides excellent weather resistance, strong adhesion, and high tensile strength while remaining permanently flexible. It skins over in approximately 60–90 minutes and becomes paintable after curing for a clean, professional appearance. With operating temperatures ranging from -40°F to 194°F (-40°C to 90°C), it performs reliably in extreme service environments.
