Product Data Sheet
DOWSIL™ 995 Silicone Structural Sealant is a premium one-component, neutral-cure silicone sealant engineered specifically for structural glazing and high-performance façade applications in commercial construction. Designed for both factory and field glazing, this architectural-grade sealant delivers exceptional structural adhesion, long-term flexibility, and outstanding weather resistance for demanding building envelope systems.
This high-modulus structural silicone exhibits excellent primerless adhesion to many common construction materials including glass, reflective glass, anodized aluminum, painted aluminum, fluoropolymer-coated metals, granite, and other façade substrates. Its self-priming characteristics help simplify installation and improve efficiency in structural glazing and curtainwall fabrication applications.
DOWSIL™ 995 cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture to form an extremely tough yet flexible silicone rubber capable of withstanding wind loads, thermal expansion, seismic movement, vibration, and long-term environmental exposure. The sealant offers ±50% joint movement capability, allowing it to maintain structural integrity and weatherproof performance even in highly dynamic building joints.
Engineered for long-term durability, the cured silicone provides outstanding resistance to UV radiation, ozone, humidity, rain, snow, and temperature extremes ranging from -40°F to 300°F (-40°C to 149°C). Its neutral-cure chemistry minimizes corrosion on sensitive substrates while delivering long-lasting elastomeric performance in exterior applications.
DOWSIL™ 995 is widely specified for hurricane-resistant and impact-rated glazing systems due to its exceptional structural adhesion and proven performance in protective glazing applications. The sealant meets major industry standards including ASTM C920 Class 50 and ASTM C1184 for structural silicone sealants and has been tested to international structural glazing specifications.
Common applications include:
- Structural glazing systems
- Curtainwall and storefront fabrication
- Hurricane- and impact-rated window systems
- Protective and security glazing
- Structural bonding of glass and metal panels
- Commercial façade weatherproofing
- Factory and field glazing applications
