Product Data Sheet
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8010NS is a high-performance, two-part acrylic adhesive specifically engineered to bond low surface energy (LSE) plastics that are traditionally difficult to bond. Designed for industrial and manufacturing applications, this structural adhesive creates strong, durable bonds on polypropylene, polyethylene, thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), and other polyolefin materials with minimal or no surface preparation required.
Formulated with a convenient 10:1 mix ratio, 3M™ DP8010NS provides approximately 10 minutes of work life and reaches handling strength in about 60 minutes at room temperature, helping improve manufacturing efficiency while allowing sufficient time for positioning and assembly. Its non-sag, medium-viscosity formulation supports controlled dispensing and clean application on vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Unlike many traditional adhesives that require flame treatment, plasma treatment, or primers to bond difficult plastics, 3M™ DP8010NS can achieve structural bonds with little more than a simple isopropyl alcohol wipe to remove surface contaminants. In addition to LSE plastics, it also bonds metals, composites, ceramics, wood, and many other plastics, making it an excellent choice for multi-material assemblies.
This toughened acrylic adhesive provides excellent impact resistance, vibration resistance, and environmental durability while maintaining slight flexibility after cure to help absorb movement and stress. Its strong bond performance allows it to replace screws, rivets, welding, and other mechanical fasteners in many applications.
Common applications include:
- Bonding polypropylene and polyethylene components
- Plastic-to-metal assemblies
- Transportation and specialty vehicle manufacturing
- Appliance and consumer product assembly
- Sporting goods and recreational equipment fabrication
- Composite and thermoplastic bonding
- Replacing mechanical fasteners in plastic assemblies
