SikaPower®-492 G is a one-component, epoxy-based structural adhesive engineered for demanding metal bonding applications in automotive body shops and industrial manufacturing environments. Designed for high-strength structural assembly, this crash-toughened adhesive delivers reliable performance for bonding sheet metal and selected plastic materials in vehicle body construction and fabrication processes.
This heat-curing adhesive is specifically formulated for use alongside spot welding, riveting, clinching, and other mechanical fastening techniques, while also helping reduce the need for additional fastening methods in certain applications. Its impact-modified formulation provides excellent strength, durability, and resistance to dynamic loads, making it ideal for structural assembly where long-term performance and crash resistance are critical.
SikaPower®-492 G adheres well to oily substrates commonly found in automotive manufacturing environments, including metals treated with anti-corrosion and deep-drawing oils. Integrated glass beads help maintain consistent bond line thickness and prevent excessive squeeze-out during assembly, supporting cleaner application and dependable bond performance.
The adhesive offers excellent wash-out resistance and can be processed using manual, pneumatic, electric, or automated dispensing systems. Its solvent-free, PVC-free, and isocyanate-free formulation supports cleaner manufacturing operations while delivering high mechanical strength and dependable structural bonding performance.
