Product Data Sheet
Sikaflex®-268 PowerCure is a high-performance, accelerated one-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant engineered specifically for rail vehicle, commercial transportation, and direct-glazing applications. Powered by Sika’s advanced PowerCure technology, this adhesive system delivers rapid curing that is largely independent of atmospheric moisture and environmental conditions, helping manufacturers improve assembly speed and production efficiency.
Designed for demanding transportation environments, Sikaflex®-268 PowerCure combines strong elastic bonding performance with exceptional weather resistance and outstanding durability against aggressive cleaning agents commonly used in the rail industry. Its durable elastomeric formulation helps absorb vibration, movement, thermal expansion, and dynamic stress while maintaining long-term bond integrity in exterior and structural assemblies.
The adhesive provides excellent adhesion to many common transportation substrates including metals, coated metals, painted surfaces, glass, and composite materials. It is compatible with Sika’s black-primerless bonding process, helping simplify surface preparation and improve manufacturing workflow efficiency.
Sikaflex®-268 PowerCure features a non-sag consistency with excellent tooling and application characteristics for clean vertical and horizontal bead application. The adhesive develops rapid tensile lap-shear strength within hours after application, allowing faster component handling and reduced fixture times in production environments.
Once cured, the adhesive remains highly resistant to fresh water, diluted acids, diluted caustic solutions, mineral oils, fuels, and a broad range of rail cleaning agents when properly maintained. Its outstanding weatherability and UV resistance make it especially suitable for exposed exterior joints and glazing assemblies in transportation applications.
Sikaflex®-268 PowerCure also meets EN45545-2 R1/R7 HL3 fire safety requirements for rail applications and is formulated solvent-free and PVC-free for improved environmental and workplace performance.
Common applications include:
- Rail vehicle assembly and glazing
- Commercial vehicle direct glazing
- Exterior transportation joints and seams
- Structural bonding and elastic assembly
