Description
Product Data Sheet
Sikaflex®-252 is a high-performance, one-component polyurethane adhesive sealant engineered for structural bonding applications exposed to dynamic stress, vibration, and harsh environmental conditions. This moisture-curing elastic adhesive combines high strength with durable flexibility, making it ideal for demanding transportation, industrial, and construction assemblies.
Designed specifically for vehicle and equipment manufacturing, Sikaflex®-252 bonds effectively to coated metals, aluminum, galvanized steel, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), wood, ceramics, plastics, and painted surfaces. Its high thixotropy and gap-filling capability allow for clean vertical application and reliable bonding of large components without sagging or runoff.
Sikaflex®-252 forms durable elastomeric bonds that absorb vibration, thermal expansion, and mechanical stress while helping improve torsional stiffness and structural integrity in assembled components. Its strong adhesive performance can replace rivets, screws, welds, and other mechanical fasteners in many applications, helping reduce weight, improve aesthetics, and simplify assembly processes.
The adhesive features approximately 35 minutes of open time and develops a tack-free skin in about 40 minutes under standard conditions. Once cured, Sikaflex®-252 provides excellent resistance to weather, water, shock, vibration, and diluted chemicals while maintaining long-term flexibility across a service temperature range from -40°F to 194°F (-40°C to 90°C).
Its non-sag formulation supports application with manual, pneumatic, electric, or pump dispensing systems. The cured adhesive is sandable and paintable, allowing for improved finishing flexibility in manufacturing and fabrication environments.
Common applications include:
- Truck, trailer, and specialty vehicle assembly
- FRP roof and sidewall bonding
- Floor bonding and subfloor attachment
- Metal and composite panel bonding
- Transportation and RV fabrication
- Structural bonding of interior and exterior components
- Industrial equipment assembly
- Sealing large-dimension joints exposed to vibration and movement
