Thermafiber® Safing Mineral Wool Insulation is engineered to deliver superior fire protection in perimeter fire containment systems tested to ASTM E2307, as well as floor and wall penetrations and construction joint systems. Designed for use in UL and Intertek listed assemblies with 1-, 2-, and 3-hour ratings, Safing insulation provides critical fire blocking performance in commercial building applications.

Manufactured from non-combustible mineral wool, Thermafiber® Safing withstands temperatures above 2,000°F while maintaining structural integrity. It is moisture-resistant, mold-resistant, non-corrosive, and non-deteriorating, making it a reliable solution for long-term firestop performance in demanding environments. With a tested R-value of approximately 4.3 per inch and densities of 4.0 pcf and 6.0 pcf options, Safing insulation also contributes to thermal efficiency and acoustical performance.

Commonly used in curtain wall perimeter fire containment systems, slab edge joints, through-penetration firestop systems, and construction joints, Thermafiber® Safing is compression-fit to eliminate voids and ensure compliance with tested and listed assemblies. Containing a minimum of 70% recycled content, it also supports sustainable building initiatives including LEED and Green Globes programs.
