Product Data Sheet
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 2216 is a high-performance, two-part epoxy adhesive engineered to provide exceptional strength, flexibility, and environmental resistance in challenging industrial applications. Designed to cure at room temperature, this versatile adhesive creates durable bonds that resist shock, vibration, thermal expansion, and harsh environmental conditions while maintaining long-term flexibility.
Unlike rigid structural adhesives, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ 2216 combines high shear and peel strength with excellent elasticity, making it ideal for bonding dissimilar materials that may expand or move at different rates. It bonds effectively to metals, plastics, rubber, wood, masonry, ceramics, glass, and composite materials, delivering reliable performance across a wide range of industrial and transportation applications.
This epoxy adhesive performs exceptionally well in environments exposed to vibration, impact, and extreme temperatures, including cryogenic conditions where many adhesives become brittle. Its medium-viscosity formulation helps minimize running and dripping while still allowing smooth application for bonding, sealing, potting, and encapsulating applications. Heat curing can significantly reduce cure times, improving production efficiency in manufacturing environments.
Common applications include:
- Transportation and aerospace assembly
- Bonding metal, plastic, rubber, and composite components
- Potting and encapsulating electronic assemblies
- Construction and industrial equipment assembly
- Cryogenic bonding applications
- Bonding materials exposed to vibration and thermal cycling
