Thermafiber® FireSpan® Mineral Wool Insulation is designed to enhance fire protection in curtain wall assemblies and perimeter fire containment systems while delivering superior thermal and acoustical performance. Engineered for ASTM E2307 perimeter fire containment applications, FireSpan® insulation is widely specified in high-rise and commercial construction projects.

Available in nominal densities of 4.0 pcf (FireSpan 40), 8.0 pcf (FireSpan 90), and 12.0 pcf (FireSpan 120), this mineral wool insulation can be selected to meet specific fire-resistance and structural requirements. FireSpan® products are non-combustible, moisture-resistant, mold-resistant, and resistant to deterioration, providing long-term reliability in exterior wall assemblies. With fire resistance exceeding 2,000°F and R-values of approximately 4.1–4.3 per inch, FireSpan® supports both life safety and energy efficiency goals.

FireSpan® insulation is commonly used in aluminum, glass, granite, precast concrete, steel back pan, and zero spandrel curtain wall systems. Its natural color provides shadowing in glass spandrel applications, and foil-faced options add durability and vapor control when required. FireSpan® is mechanically attached in compliance with UL and Intertek listed systems and is a key component in code-compliant perimeter fire containment assemblies.
