3M™ VHB™ Tape Universal Primer UV can be used to promote adhesion of 3M™ VHB™ tapes to a broad range of surfaces such as polypropylene, ABS, acrylic, polycarbonate, nylon, FRP, rigid PVC, metal and painted surfaces. A fluorescent dye has been added to help verify primer coverage.

Surface Preparation:

The bonding surface must be relatively clean and dry. Substrates should be cleaned with an appropriate detergent. A clean lint-free cloth should be used.

Application:

Shake 3M™ VHB™ Tape Universal Primer UV well before using. Apply a thin uniform coating to the bonding surface using the minimum amount that will fully coat the surface. Allow Primer UV to dry thoroughly before applying tape (30 – 90 s). The tape should be applied or the bond made to the prepared surface within 8 hours of primer application. Be sure the primed surface remains free from contaminants prior to applying the tape. Porous surfaces may require 2 applications of primer for uniform coverage and good adhesion. Allow first application of primer to dry before applying the second coat.

3M™ VHB™ Tape Universal Primer UV may be applied with a brush, swab or felt-tipped dauber bottle applicator (1), a pressurized flow gun, knurled roller or other similar type of application equipment. Applicator heads should be cleaned or replaced regularly.
